Students aged 8-13 rotate through our STEAM career pipeline with six 8-week modules: 1) Artemis Space Exploration 2) Middle Medi's 3) Entrepreneurship 4) Cybersecurity
Despite critical thinking development in middle school, this remains the Bermuda Triangle of education when students often get off track. By captivating their interest in STEAM careers, they gain an edge on high school internships. This exposure lifts them above their current situation and seeds the moguls of tomorrow.
IALAS provides students with historic financial education, one-on-one financial coaching, life-coaching, and asset training with financial advisors. By altering the money mindset of low income students’ and parents’, we financially free generations. We exist to partner with families in our community by exchanging the cycle of poverty with the cycle of knowledge transfer from generation to generation on how to secure and maintain finances, build wealth, and make financial goals for their families. Financial empowerment uplifts the whole family, improving student outcomes.
Our mental health is the foundation upon which we build every other facet of our lives. Albeit, it is stigmatized in the African community. IALAS is committed to helping students’ and parents’ discover and unleash their true potential. Every student will be evaluated for any severe adverse childhood events and paired with a therapist. Society should not expect to heal a child who is under the care of an adult who carries the traumatic burdens of her own childhood. IALAS exists to address the inter-generational trauma experienced by black and brown families, specifically students in the undeserved Wards 7& 8. We take the journey with our students to emotional self-regulation and social emotional wellness.
